A 6,200 square foot, two-story addition to the existing computer facility will house electrical switchgear and emergency generator equipment. The new addition supports the heavy switchgear loads with a combination of composite structural steel framing and load bearing CMU walls. Careful positioning of the new foundations was required to relate to the varying foundations of the existing building, constructed in two phases. Louvered openings around the first floor required shelf angles to support the masonry and glass fiber reinforced concrete panel veneer. R. Forney & Associates provided structural analysis, design and detailing services. Completed 2008.
